Right Vs Wrong, Honest Vs Deceitful

These days, when we watch television or read from the daily newspaper, we can find so many issues about laws, rules or regulations that have been immorally performed by some people no matter in which level of the society that people come from. So many laws are manipulated for the sake of certain group of people. So many laws are also manipulated to give opportunities to the law enforcements to extort money from the civil. Some people use the law and justice and manipulate them to mislead people for their own advantage.

In ethics and law, "Let the punishment fit the crime" is the principle that the severity of penalty for a misdeed or wrongdoing should be reasonable and proportional to the severity of the infraction.[1] The concept is common to most cultures throughout the world.

In my opinion, law and regulation should be based on a civil law system and intermixed with customary 'adat' laws. It is true that every criminal is different in some ways and each offender will have a different way of reacting to consequences, outcomes of incidents, and influences obtained from their environment. Thus, the level of punishment or fine should be scaled proportionally according to their severity. If one regulation is stated and read to the society, this means, the Law has to perform by the justice. The law and regulation should be performed consistently and morally balanced so then its values would be used as a help instead of a hindrance of survival and flourish to the society.  This act should also be applicable to the people from all levels of hierarchy in society.

If the 'Law doer' can perform proportionally, then the society won't be confounded between right or wrong and be able to distinguish between honest and lies :)
